Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering patient care through the nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role involves directing and coordinating nursing care based on professional standards, collaborating with healthcare professionals to provide quality and cost-effective care, and serving as a resource when needed. The nurse will care for patients of all ages, applying age-specific and cultural considerations, and must be flexible and capable of independent action within defined limits.

Responsibilities: Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current and active Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska in good standing.
• Completion of a nursing education program from an NLN-approved institution.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification current and maintained.
• Proficiency in oral and written communication.
• Basic nursing skills including EKG interpretation and medication administration.
• Minimum of one year of experience preferred in a healthcare setting as a Registered Nurse.
• Ability to work independently and apply nursing process in patient care.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with diverse patient populations including all age groups.
• Knowledge of cultural diversity and age-specific care considerations.
• Experience supervising healthcare support staff.
• Familiarity with healthcare documentation and computer input systems.

Special Considerations:

• Must be flexible with work schedule and able to work independently within prescribed limits.
• Ability to manage care across the continuum and respond to practical and varied clinical situations.
• Supervisory responsibilities include oversight of unit secretaries and patient care technicians.
