Job summary

Wexford Health Sources, Inc. seeks a Registered Nurse for Abingdon Regional Jail in Abingdon, VA. The full-time night shift runs 5:00 PM to 5:30 AM, three days per week, with a competitive hourly pay.

You will assess health needs, administer medications, and guide treatment plans, coordinating with correctional staff to uphold safety and quality of care. Education and professional development are encouraged as part of ongoing patient care.

Qualifications

• Active unrestricted RN license in state of practice.
• Active CPR certification.
• Strong clinical and communication skills; adaptability in high-pressure settings.

Responsibilities

• Assess physical and mental health needs of patients.
• Administer medications and monitor treatment outcomes.
• Guide treatment plans from admission to discharge; coordinate with healthcare and correctional staff.
• Support patient education, make timely referrals, and maintain safety/standards on the unit.
• Mentor staff and respond to crises as needed.

SCHEDULE: Full-time/ 5:00PM -5:30AM/ 3 days weekly

FACILITY: Abingdon Regional Jail

LOCATION: Abingdon, VA

PAY RATE: $37.00-$40.00/hr plus a $3.50/hr shift differential

As a Registered Nurse in our facility, you'll do more than care for patients-you'll lead, teach, and advocate. Working closely with healthcare and correctional staff, you'll assess physical/mental health needs, administer medications, and guide treatment plans from start to finish. You'll play a key role in supporting patient education, making timely referrals, and helping maintain safety and standards across the unit. Whether you're managing medications, mentoring staff, or responding to a crisis, your skills will make a real impact every day.
