Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a Registered Monitor Technician Reader to support long-term monitoring of adult and pediatric patients in the Epilepsy-Main Campus Hospital. The role involves EEG and video data review, patient history presentation, and collaboration with staff physicians during rounds.

The ideal candidate will have an EEG technician certification (R.EEG.T) with BLS, plus experience in epilepsy monitoring and bedside monitoring systems, and be comfortable working evening

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• Registered EEG Technologist (R.EEG.T) with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Two years of recent technical experience in epilepsy long term monitoring or EEG lab work with bedside monitoring exposure.
• Tech/computer experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform long term monitoring of adult and pediatric patients using EEG and video equipment.
• Present patient history, EEG data and radiologic studies in daily rounds for staff physicians.
• Describe seizures and frequency; list current medications and prior investigations.
• Describe examinations during admission to monitoring units and prepare final reports.

A caregiver in this position works 3:00pm-11:00pm| every 3 rd weekend |

A caregiver who excels in this role will

• Perform long term monitoring of adult and pediatric patients using closed circuit and digital audio/visual equipment and electrophysiological recording instruments.
• Present patient history and evolution, EEG and video data and radiologic studies in daily patient rounds for staff physicians.
• Describe current seizures and frequency.
• List current medications and results of previous investigations.
• Describe examination made during admission to the monitoring units.
• Map, classif y an impression of ictal and interictal EEG/Video data.
• Write final report and detailed description of EEG patterns, seizure semiology, radiologic findings, mapping of ictal and interictal abnormalities and selection of representative EEG samples.
• Serve as an instructor for new personnel being trained to perform testing and care for long term monitoring patients.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include

• High School or GED
• Registered EEG Technologist (R.EEG.T) with Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• Two years of recent technical experience in epilepsy long term monitoring, routine EEG lab with exposure to long term monitoring on Bedside Monitoring systems or any combination of such experience

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include

• Tech/computer experience

Physical Requirements

• Manual dexterity in order to place electrodes precisely and to operate recording equipment.
• Ability to assist with positioning and transporting of patients, pushing beds, carts and wheelchairs.
• Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Possible exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids.

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
