Job summary

Hartwig Care Limited is seeking an experienced Registered Manager to lead our domiciliary care branch. You will oversee safe, high-quality, person-centred care, manage budgets, and ensure regulatory compliance while driving growth.

This role requires hands-on leadership, on-call availability, and strong stakeholder engagement. You will recruit, develop and supervise the care team, build strong partnerships with local authorities, and deliver continuous service improvements.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of community-based nursing, case management or management of a service provision within Health & Social Care.
  • Financial management experience including budgetary control.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory frameworks for domiciliary care (Care Standards, CQC).
  • Good education with strong literacy and numeracy.
  • Active professional PIN.
  • QCF Level 5 Qualification in Leadership & Management for Health & Social Care (or equivalent).
  • Business Management Degree is desirable.
  • Understanding tendering processes including preparing tenders and presentations.
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding, Protection of the Person and Adult Protection.
  • Knowledge of Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Frameworks.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safe and high-quality, person-centred care across the service.
  • Ensure a skilled, competent workforce delivering care.
  • Build relationships with local authority partners and regional teams.
  • Attend local authority meetings and contribute to forums.
  • Plan and facilitate service user forums and staff engagement meetings.
  • Prepare branch updates and reports for Regional Director reviews.
  • Take responsibility for branch P&L and financial targets.
  • Oversee budgets, payroll inputs, invoices and billing reports.

Requirements
  • Understanding of community-based nursing, case management or the management of a service provision within the Health & Social Care sector.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Service Management
  • Lead the safe and effective delivery of high-quality, person-centred care across the service.
  • Ensure care is delivered by a skilled, knowledgeable, competent and professional workforce.
  • Build strong relationships through networking and by supporting managers across the region.
  • Attend meetings with local authority partners and contribute to local authority forums.
  • Plan and facilitate regular service user forums.
  • Chair staff meetings, including listening lunches, to encourage engagement and communication.
  • Maintain awareness of local market conditions and competitor activity to support continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and communicate key updates and branch communications, including newsletters.
  • Prepare information and reports for Regional Director business reviews.
  • Provide clear leadership by setting expectations, goals and responsibilities for your team.
  • Maintain effective communication with colleagues, service users, families and external stakeholders.
Quality, Compliance & Safeguarding
  • Ensure the service operates in full compliance with relevant legislation, CQC regulations and company policies.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by reviewing lessons learned and implementing service improvements.
  • Lead the effective management of complaints and escalations, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Maintain responsibility for Health & Safety, including the management of incidents and accidents.
  • Ensure Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans are regularly reviewed and maintained.
  • Attend and complete all mandatory training requirements.
  • Support high standards of governance, quality assurance and regulatory compliance across the branch.
  • Take full responsibility for the branch Profit & Loss account.
  • Manage branch budgets and support delivery of agreed financial targets.
  • Supply accurate payroll information to the Central Payroll Team.
  • Authorise branch expenses and approve invoices and billing reports.
  • Prepare hours information and attend payroll and operational calls as required.
  • Produce reports for contractual partners including Local Authorities and the NHS.
  • Monitor branch financial performance, including EBITDA and debtor days, and support effective financial planning.
Performance & Business Growth
  • Drive continuous improvement of branch Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Participate in KPI review meetings and implement improvement plans where required.
  • Support sustainable branch growth through commercial activities and business development.
  • Ensure sufficient recruitment activity to meet current and future business demand.
  • Participate in tender opportunities and support presentations to commissioners.
  • Work closely with the Regional Director to achieve business objectives.
  • Monitor staff attrition and support initiatives to improve retention and engagement.
  • Deliver branch growth in line with agreed budgets and commercial objectives.
People Management & Development
  • Lead the recruitment, interviewing and onboarding of new employees.
  • Manage staff training, development, supervision and annual appraisals.
  • Promote employee recognition and reward initiatives.
  • Create a culture of accountability, professionalism and continuous learning.
  • Effectively manage staff performance and conduct.
  • Coach and develop employees to help them reach their full potential.
  • Ensure the branch has the staffing capacity and capability required to deliver outstanding care.
