Job description

What We're Looking For:

Barge Design Solutions is seeking a skilled and experienced Registered Land Surveyor to support a variety of complex and dynamic projects across multiple markets. In this role, you will independently manage and execute challenging geomatics and surveying assignments, delivering precise and practical solutions to support Project Managers, Engineers, Architects, Landscape Architects, and other stakeholders. Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with various discipline leads on scheduling objectives and project milestones for various large-scale geomatics and surveying projects.
  • Approve a subset of more complex deliverables and surveys by analyzing reports, programming, client requirements, and other relevant information.
  • Sign and seal surveys, maps, and survey related documents.
  • Perform in-process quality review of survey field activities, legal descriptions, maps, aerial photographs, calculations, and other diverse types of projects deliverables.
  • Perform complex calculations.
  • Act as project-specific lead for technical survey/geomatics work of others.
  • Prepare computations and cost estimates using various software packages in order to validate various findings.
  • Utilize GIS software to collect data, attribute features, produce maps, etc.
  • Anticipate roadblocks and provide recommendations for resolution to ensure strong accuracy of survey work.
  • Communicate with clients pertaining to specific projects and attend client meetings.
  • Coordinate deliverables between clients, teaming partners, and other disciplines working on a project.
  • Participate as needed in project proposals.
  • Stay up to date regarding new methods, standards, regulations, and developments affecting the organization, and recommend new practices or changes in emphasis
  • Perform other duties as required.

Education & Experience Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited program
  • Minimum of 4-8 years of Geomatics, Surveying, or other relevant experience; 10 years of relevant experience may count in lieu of degree
  • Registered Professional Surveying Licensure (varies by state)
  • Ability to apply seasoned knowledge through progressive experience to resolve issues
  • Extensive knowledge of GIS, Survey, and other essential equipment for field and office work
  • Ability to provide resourcefulness and initiative to perform projects
  • Valid driver's license and sufficient driving record
  • Ability to work varying schedules
  • Ability to travel at times including overnight

Work environment includes working outdoors in rough terrain. Individuals will walk, sit, and stand while operating various equipment, tools and machinery. Individuals may need to carry, push, pull, or lift up to 50 lbs. Individuals may need to climb to various elevations and requires visual acuity sufficient to read alpha/numberic symbols and perform computation and design.
