Job summary

El Paso Childrens Hospital Corporation is seeking a Registered Electroencephalographic (EEG) Technologist to prepare and conduct various EEG examinations. Responsibilities include collecting information for test interpretation and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Overview

The Registered Electroencephalographic (EEG) Technologist prepares and conducts various electroencephalographic (EEG) examinations, basic EEG’s, extended epilepsy monitoring, extended monitoring, intraoperative monitoring, and evoke potentials. The Registered EEG Technologist conducts various electroencephalographic examinations and collects information pertaining to the interpretation of the test; as well as evaluates the function and provision of services to patients by using equipment, effective communication skills within and between departments, and close coordination with department Director, Medical Director, and medical staff. The Registered EEG Technologist ensures methods of compliance with the Joint Commission and other regulatory and practice standards; and provides patient care and age-appropriate interventions.

Minimum Position Requirements
  • Work Experience:
    • Related experience with healthcare equipment in a hospital/healthcare setting.
    • Two years of experience as an EEG technologist, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • License/Registration/Certification:
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
    • Must be current, and maintain, a Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.) registration through the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET).
  • Education and Training:
    • Completion of a healthcare program in a clinical area (i.e., Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, etc.).
    • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Skills:
    • Effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Possesses effective interpersonal relationship skills.
    • Basic knowledge of or ability to learn various electroencephalographic procedures and processes.
    • Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
    • Bilingual, English and Spanish preferred.
