Job summary

Cone Health is seeking an Electroencephalogram Technician to perform routine EEG tests and calibrations, under direct supervision, ensuring accurate results. You will maintain equipment, prepare reports, and ensure a safe testing environment for patients in a relief (PRN) role.

The position requires graduation from a Neurodiagnostics program or equivalent experience, and a BLS CPR certification. Relief coverage will involve on-call shifts across the United States.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited Neurodiagnostics training program or combination of education and experience.
  • On-call relief position; ability to work varied shifts.
  • BLS CPR certification required (American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider)

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine EEG tests, including impedance checks, photic stimulation, hyperventilation, and video monitoring, to meet professional and regulatory standards.
  • Identifies and eliminates artifact contamination of EEG recordings and video.
  • Maintains EEG equipment by calibrations and troubleshooting to ensure readiness and accuracy.
  • Prepares test reports and maintains data, gathering patient history and relevant medication information to aid neurologist decisions.
  • Maintains EEG supplies and a clean environment, following infection prevention practices.
  • Explains EEG procedure and preparation to patient to promote understanding and cooperation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

The Electroencephalogram Technician conducts medical tests that measure electrical activity of the brain and can be used to help diagnose conditions such as epilepsy, sleep disorders and brain tumors. This position performs routine Electroencephalogram (EEG) tests and calibrations to meet professional standards and regulatory requirements, ensuring accurate and reliable results. Working under direct supervision, this position also maintains and troubleshoots EEG equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Essential Job Function

  • Performs routine EEG tests, including impedance checks, photic stimulation, hyperventilation, and video monitoring, to meet professional and regulatory standards and contribute to accurate neurological assessments and diagnosis.
  • Identifies and eliminates or reduces artifact contamination of the recording of the EEG and video.
  • Maintains EEG equipment by conducting calibrations and troubleshooting to ensure equipment readiness and accuracy and promote the reliability and efficiency of EEG procedures.
  • Prepares test reports and maintains test data, obtaining patient history and relevant medication information to aid in the neurologist’s accurate diagnosis, treatment planning, and monitoring of patient progress.
  • Maintains EEG supplies and a clean environment, employing infection prevention practices to ensure a safe and hygienic testing environment and promote patient safety.
  • Explains EEG procedure and preparation to patient to enhance patient understanding and cooperation during testing and promote a positive patient experience.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Required: Graduate from an accredited training program in Neurodiagnostics or a combination of education and experience
