Job summary

El Paso Children’s Hospital is seeking an Registered EEG Technologist to perform a variety of electroencephalographic examinations, including basic EEGs and extended monitoring. You will collect test data, assist with interpretation, and coordinate care with the department leadership to ensure high-quality patient services.

The role requires two years of EEG experience, completion of a healthcare program, and current BLS and ABRET-registered status, with bilingual abilities preferred for patient

Qualifications

Overview

The Registered Electroencephalographic (EEG) Technologist prepares and conducts various electroencephalographic (EEG) examinations, including basic EEGs, extended epilepsy monitoring, extended monitoring, intraoperative monitoring, and evoked potentials. The Registered EEG Technologist conducts examinations and collects information pertaining to the interpretation of the test, evaluates the function and provision of services to patients, and uses equipment with effective communication skills within and between departments, in close coordination with the department Director, Medical Director, and medical staff. The Registered EEG Technologist ensures compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory and practice standards and provides patient care with age-appropriate interventions.

  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory and practice standards; provide age-appropriate patient care.
Qualifications
  • Work Experience:
    • Related experience with healthcare equipment in a hospital/healthcare setting.
    • Two years of experience as an EEG technologist, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • License/Registration/Certification:
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
    • Must be current, and maintain, a Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.) registration through the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET).
  • Education and Training:
    • Completion of a healthcare program in a clinical area (e.g., Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, etc.).
    • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Skills:
    • Effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Presents effective interpersonal relationship skills.
    • Basic knowledge of or ability to learn various electroencephalographic procedures and processes.
    • Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
    • Bilingual, English and Spanish preferred.
