Position Overview

The Registered Dietitian provides expert nutrition consultation to cancer patients throughout the continuum of care—from prevention to treatment, survivorship, and palliative care. This role supports patients with individualized nutritional assessments, care planning, and education, while serving as a critical member of the multidisciplinary oncology team. No nights, weekends, or holidays.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement a screening system for identifying patients undergoing active cancer treatment who need nutritional support
• Conduct individualized nutrition assessments and develop treatment plans tailored to patient needs
• Provide ongoing counseling, education, and guidance for patients and caregivers
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds for acute oncology patients
• Develop and lead nutrition classes and staff in-services on relevant topics
• Create and maintain educational materials that reflect current best practices
• Document all interactions and care plans in compliance with professional standards
• Serve as a nutrition expert across multiple West Cancer Center locations
• Stay current on oncology nutrition guidelines and participate in continuing education
• Maintain punctuality, professionalism, and confidentiality in all interactions
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or Dietetics
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Dietitian
• Current RD credential and active state licensure
• Preferred:
• Master’s degree in Nutrition or Dietetics
• Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition (CSO)

Skills & Abilities

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Critical thinking and prioritization skills in a clinical environment
• Proficiency in electronic documentation and computer applications
• Knowledge of the Nutrition Care Process and medical nutrition therapy
• Ability to educate and counsel patients and families effectively

• Understanding of nutrient analysis and national oncology nutrition guidelines
