Job summary

Centra Rehabilitation Hospital, a Lifepoint Health facility, seeks a Dietitian to contribute to clinical nutrition care in a brand-new inpatient rehab setting in Lynchburg. The role emphasizes regulatory compliance, menu oversight, and collaboration with the care team to support patient outcomes.

Required: Bachelor's in dietetics or related field and RD registration; state licensure if needed. Prior acute care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in dietetics or nutrition.
• Registered Dietitian (RD) with CDR registration.
• Experience in acute care setting preferred.
• State licensure/certification, if required by state.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to department budget planning and strategic goals.
• Oversee menu management and approve patient menu substitutions.
• Ensure accurate transcription of diet orders and compliance with guidelines.
• Support policy implementation and nutrition care pathways.

How you'll contribute

A Dietician who excels in this role:

• Completes annual competency testing and maintains professional growth and development portfolio to maintain registration and licensure/certification
• Performs job based on applicable federal, state, and local regulations, company policies and procedures, and evidenced based clinical guidelines
• Performs job within defined Scope of Practice
• Participates in the planning of the department budget
• Participates in planning and creating the hospital's strategic plan to achieve the mission and vision of the hospital
• Participates in implementing policies and procedures related to nutrition care of the patient
• Participates in the hospital's performance improvement program by conducting, aggregating, trending, and acting on data for key clinical nutrition indicators
• Provides oversight of the menu management process
• Reviews and approves all patient menus in the facility; must approve any substitutions provided to patients
• Provides oversight for the transcription of diet orders in the department to ensure accuracy.

What we're looking for

Applicants should possess the following qualifications and skills:

• Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in dietetics or nutrition related field. Registration from the Commission on Dietetic Registration
• Experience: Previous experience in acute care setting, preferred.
• Additional Requirements: State licensure/certification, if required by state.
