Job summary

Liberty Point Behavioral Healthcare, located in Staunton, VA, seeks a Registered Dietitian (RD) or RD Nutritionist (RDN) for a PRN role in its trauma-informed residential program for adolescent males with complex needs.

The position involves about 8–12 hours per month, with 75% remote work and 25% in-person duties at the RTC. The RD will screen and assess residents, assist with menu planning, and educate residents and families while collaborating with nursing and dietary staff.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nutritional Science or related field, Masters preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years experience preferred.
• Active registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration, or Active certification of the Board for Certification of Nutrition Specialists.
• Knowledge, education, and experience to provide nutritional assessments and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Initiates and completes nutritional screening and assessments of all assigned patients within a specific time frame of the resident admission.
• Assists with the planning and approval of menus per regulatory requirements.
• Provides resident follow-up as indicated.
• Provides individual conferences with residents and family for nutritional education when appropriate or requested.
• Establishes a working relationship with Nursing and Dietary to assist in promoting optimal nutritional care.
• Interprets, adjusts, and checks accuracy of diet orders for kitchen staff so that appropriate food items are prepared.
• Provides services to residential units on a consult basis.
• Participates in the discharge planning/meeting of patients with specific nutritional concerns and goals

Responsibilities

Liberty Point Behavioral Healthcare is actively seeking a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) to work on a PRN basis.

The Dietitian will work approximately 8 to 12 hours per month. This job will be 75% remote, 25% in person at our residential treatment center (RTC).

Liberty Point Behavioral Healthcare is located in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley — a region best known for its natural beauty — in the charming city of Staunton, Virginia.

We provide trauma-informed psychiatric residential treatment to adolescent males who are experiencing complex emotional, behavioral, and educational difficulties.

Our programs are specifically designed for youth with psychiatric disorders and co-occurring intellectual disabilities.

We also specialize in working with young men who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.

We are a 42-bed facility with a program that prepares these young men for return to a home, a less restrictive environment, or to independent living.

Our primary focus is on encouraging constructive change and personal growth, learning positive ways to get appropriate attention, improving behavior choices, developing a sense of responsibility for actions, learning problem-solving skills, and developing thinking patterns that support positive relationships.
