Liberty Point Behavioral Healthcare in Staunton, Virginia is seeking a Registered Dietitian (RD) or RDN for PRN work. The role is 75% remote and 25% in person at our residential treatment center, requiring about 8 to 12 hours per month.

The Dietitian will perform nutritional screenings, develop menus, and provide education to residents, while coordinating with Nursing and Dietary staff to ensure quality care and discharge planning for youths with complex needs.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nutritional Science or related field; Masters preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years experience preferred.
• Active registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration, or Active certification of the Board for Certification of Nutrition Specialists.
• Knowledge to provide nutritional assessments and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Initiates and completes nutritional screening and assessments within a resident admission timeframe.
• Assists with menu planning per regulatory requirements.
• Provides resident follow-up as indicated.
• Provides individual conferences with residents and family for nutritional education when appropriate.
• Establishes a working relationship with Nursing and Dietary to promote optimal nutritional care.
• Interprets, adjusts, and checks accuracy of diet orders for kitchen staff.
• Provides services to residential units on a consult basis.
• Participates in discharge planning/meeting of patients with nutritional concerns and goals.

Liberty Point Behavioral Healthcare is actively seeking a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) to work on a PRN basis.

The Dietitian will work approximately 8 to 12 hours per month. This job will be 75% remote, 25% in person at our residential treatment center (RTC).

Liberty Point Behavioral Healthcare is located in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley -- a region best known for its natural beauty -- in the charming city of Staunton, Virginia. We provide trauma-informed psychiatric residential treatment to adolescent males who are experiencing complex emotional, behavioral, and educational difficulties. Our programs are specifically designed for youth with psychiatric disorders and co-occurring intellectual disabilities. We also specialize in working with young men who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. We are a 42-bed facility with a program that prepares these young men for return to a home, a less restrictive environment, or to independent living. Our primary focus is on encouraging constructive change and personal growth, learning positive ways to get appropriate attention, improving behavior choices, developing a sense of responsibility for actions, learning problem-solving skills, and developing thinking patterns that support positive relationships.

Job Duties:

• initiates and completes nutritional screening and assessments of all assigned patients within a specific time frame of the resident admission;
• assists with the planning and approval of menus per regulatory requirements;
• provides redident follow-up as indicated;
• provides individual conferences with residents and family for nutritional education when appropriate or requested;
• establishes a working relationship with Nursing and Dietary to assist in promoting optimal nutritional care;
• interprets, adjusts, and checks accuracy of diet orders for kitchen staff so that appropriate food items are prepared;
• provides services to residential units on a consult basis;
• participates in the discharge planning/meeting of patients with specific nutritional concerns and goals

Qualifications

Successful candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Must be at least 21 years of age;
• Bachelor's Degree in Nutritional Science or related field of study, Masters preferred;
• Minimum of 3 years experience preferred
• Active registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration, or Active certification of the Board for Certification of Nutrition Specialists
• Knowledge, education, and experience to provide nutitional assessments and recommendations

Pay is Hourly (bi-weekly) and is commensurate with education and experience.
