Must pass a national examination (CDR) or be eligible.
Completes 75 hours of continuing education every five years.
Licensed or certified per state requirements.
Knowledge of regulation standards for assessments, care planning, and residents' rights.
Ability to teach others about nutrition and dietetics.

Responsibilities

Provide nutritional expertise to the health care team and educate patients/residents, staff, or consultants.
Follow the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics standards and facility regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with other departments to set up procedures and policies related to dining and nutrition.
Participate in development and review of continuous quality improvement programs.
