Qualifications

• Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) or eligible.
• Completes required continuing education hours every five years.
• Licensed or certified as required by state law.
• Knowledge of regulations for comprehensive assessments and care planning.
• Ability to teach others about nutrition and dietetics.

Responsibilities

• Provide nutritional expertise to the health care team and educate patients/residents, staff, or consultants.
• Follow standards of practice and facility regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with other departments to set up procedures and problem solve related to dining services and nutrition.
• Participate in development, review, and revision of quality improvement programs.
