Job summary

NHC HealthCare Charleston is seeking a Registered Dietitian to ensure accurate assessment of the nutritional status of patients/residents and to plan interventions to improve overall nutrition.

The RDN will advise the Director of Food and Nutrition Services and staff, and may visit centers to provide ongoing liaison with medical and nursing staff, ensuring comprehensive nutrition care across the FNS department.

Qualifications

• Must have a sincere interest in foodservice & nutrition and enjoy working with the senior care living population and other healthcare patients.
• Must meet Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics requirements for RDNs.
• At least one year's experience in clinical nutrition is desired but not essential. Experience of an accredited Dietetic Internship or equivalent training is expected.
• Must have a thorough knowledge of and be able to apply nutrition principles and assess nutritional status to plan care.

Responsibilities

• Assess the nutritional status of patients/residents and plan individualized care.
• Provide guidance to the Director of Food and Nutrition Services and staff of the FNS department.
• Visit centers as needed to provide liaison with medical and nursing staff and advise the Administrator.

Job description

Position:

Registered Dietitian

The Registered Dietitian will ensure that the nutritional status of all patients/residents is assessed accurately and to plan approaches to improve status if needed. The Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) will provide guidance to the Director of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS), FNS Manager, Nutrition and Dietetics Technician Registered (NDTR), and/or the staff of FNS Department. If not based in-house, visits to the centers are at appropriate times and of sufficient duration and frequency to provide continuing liaison with the medical and nursing staff, advice to the Administrator, and guidance to the FNS department. Although the emphasis of this position is in the clinical area, duties may include all aspects of food and nutrition services.
