Job summary

NHC HealthCare Charleston is seeking a Registered Dietitian to assess the nutritional status of patients/residents and plan interventions to improve outcomes. The RDN will collaborate with the FNS leadership, medical staff, and nursing teams to ensure high-quality nutrition care across the facility.

The role emphasizes clinical nutrition with opportunities to contribute to all aspects of food and nutrition services within a geriatrics-focused setting.

Qualifications

• Must have sincere interest in foodservice & nutrition and enjoy working with senior care or healthcare patients.
• Must meet Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics requirements for RDNs.
• At least 1 year of clinical nutrition experience is desired; internship/training may be required.
• Must be able to assess nutritional status and plan care for patients using nutrition principles.

Responsibilities

• Assess nutritional status of all patients/residents.
• Plan improvements to nutritional status as needed.
• Provide guidance to FNS leadership and staff; liaison with medical and nursing teams.

Registered DietitianThe Registered Dietitian will ensure that the nutritional status of all patients/residents is assessed accurately and to plan approaches to improve status if needed. The Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) will provide guidance to the Director of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS), FNS Manager, Nutrition and Dietetics Technician Registered (NDTR), and/or the staff of FNS Department. If not based in-house, visits to the centers are at appropriate times and of sufficient duration and frequency to provide continuing liaison with the medical and nursing staff, advice to the Administrator, and guidance to the FNS department. Although the emphasis of this position is in the clinical area, duties may include all aspects of food and nutrition services.

• Must have a thorough knowledge of and be able to apply nutrition principles. Must be able to accurately use this knowledge to assess nutritional status and plan care for the patients.
