Job summary

The City of Baltimore is seeking a Registered Dietitian to counsel individuals and groups on nutrition to prevent disease and promote health. The role involves work in clinics and community facilities with minimal supervision and requires developing educational programs and presenting to groups.

Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree with nutrition coursework, two years of RD experience, and Maryland licensure/registrations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree including at least 24 semester hours in human nutrition, food and nutrition, dietetics, or food systems management from an accredited institution.
• Two years of experience as a registered dietitian in hospital, food service management, community or public health facility.
• Master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience.
• Licensure as a Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist (LDN) by the Maryland Board of Dietetic Practice and registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
• WIC Program candidates must pass Maryland State training for Competent Professional Authority within nine months.

Responsibilities

• Counsel individuals and groups on nutritional practices to prevent disease and promote health.
• Work with clinics and community facilities; no supervisory duties required.
• Provide nutritional counseling for clients with high-risk medical conditions.
• Develop and conduct in-service and educational programs.
• Speak before groups about nutrition and promote healthy eating habits.
