AdventHealth Medical Group in Orlando, FL seeks an experienced Dietitian to conduct nutrition-focused assessments, develop care plans, and provide evidence-based nutrition counseling. You will collaborate with doctors and the care team to optimize patient outcomes and participate in education for staff and interns.

Qualified candidates have a background in clinical nutrition, with a Bachelor’s degree as a minimum and a Master’s preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or related field required.
• Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credentials preferred or required per role.
• 3+ years of clinical nutrition experience and hospital setting exposure.

Responsibilities

• Complete nutrition-focused assessments and evaluate status.
• Provide nutrition interventions, education, counseling, and referrals.
• Enter orders and document care in the electronic health record.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health staff on care plans.
• Supervise interns and contribute to quality improvement activities.

Job Description:

Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm, potential for hybrid schedule

$7500k sign on bonus

• Completes nutrition-focused physical assessments, takes measurements, reviews medical records, collects data via interviews, and evaluates anthropometric status.
• Evaluates assessment data to identify nutrition risks, nutrition problems, criteria consistent with malnutrition, knowledge deficits, and high-risk health behaviors.
• Offers nutrition interventions, orders, education, counseling, and referrals to other services.
• May place feeding tubes or perform indirect calorimetry studies.
• Provides counseling and education using evidence-based techniques that reflect appropriate health literacy and cultural sensitivity to patients with disease processes requiring nutritional management.
• Monitors and evaluates nutrition care plans to reach nutrition goals and promote optimal outcomes.
• Supervises practice experience for dietetic interns, dietetic technicians, registration eligible dietitians and new employees, participates in research, performance improvement, and initiatives.
• Enters complete, accurate, and timely electronic health record documentation.
• Enters nutrition orders when authorized by Medical Staff policy and procedure to reflect patient care.
• Participates in patient care rounds, collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals to create nutrition plans of care.
• Promotes evidence-based nutrition care and makes expertise available to foodservice areas.
• Provides timely responses to internal electronic communication.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and have good comprehension of conversational English
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Comprehensive knowledge and application of nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy
• General knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing, e-mail, and spreadsheet software
• Ability to search the web for nutrition research or practice updates and apply knowledge to updating reference materials, preparing for presentations, education, etc.
• Avails self to staff on units as the nutrition expert
• Participates in Quality Improvement activities
• Attends interdisciplinary meetings and rounds on assigned units as scheduled unless valid excuse demonstrated
• Attends assigned team and/or committee meetings unless valid excuse demonstrated
• Assists in regulatory survey preparation when applicable
• Reviews and/or updates department resource/reference materials when applicable or [Required]
• When confronted with barriers to meeting patient care standards, improves process by planning and implementing action steps
• Identifies specific patient or staff needs, initiates and develops educational or clinical materials then evaluates outcomes
• Assures that care delivered to each patient is in accordance with established standards
• Skill and knowledge in working with an electronic health record system
• Analyzes and interprets reliable assessment data to identify an actual occurrence, risk of, or potential for developing a nutrition problem
• Nutrition Diagnoses/Problems are included on the patient care plan and updated as more data becomes available, or signed off as applicable
• Provides appropriate intervention in accordance with the identified patient’s goals
• Identifies and follows through with potential complex discharge planning needs, intervenes early to promote timely attainment of goals
• Adheres to reassessment timeframe per standards
• Reassesses and updates nutrition care process and implement changes as indicated
• Complies with National Patient Safety Goals regarding abbreviation usage, patient identification
• Assessment, interventions, and procedures utilizing equipment are appropriate for the age group
• Understands indications for nutrition support therapy (both enteral and parenteral) and applies recommendations appropriately
