Job summary

AdventHealth in Ocala, Florida seeks a Registered Dietitian to provide nutrition-focused assessments, develop care plans, and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and foodservice teams to support patient nutrition goals.

This full-time role offers day-shift hours, opportunities to supervise interns, participate in research and performance improvement, and access benefits from day one.

A CADE-accredited supervised practice and CADE requirements apply; RDN licensure in Florida is expected.

Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical nutrition therapy.
  • General knowledge of nutrient analysis and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to search nutrition research and apply updates to materials.
  • Revises reference materials as applicable.
  • Develops educational or clinical materials and evaluates outcomes.
  • Ensures care aligns with established standards.
  • Proficient with electronic health records.

Responsibilities

  • Completes nutrition-focused assessments and evaluates anthropometric status.
  • Evaluates data to identify nutrition risks and high-risk behaviors.
  • Offers nutrition interventions, education, and referrals.
  • May place feeding tubes or perform indirect calorimetry studies.
  • Provides counseling using evidence-based techniques with health literacy considerations.
  • Monitors nutrition care plans to reach goals.
  • Supervises interns and participates in research and improvement initiatives.
  • Documents orders and patient care timely in EHR.

Job Description
  • $5,000 Sign On Bonus for Eligible Candidates
  • Completes nutrition-focused physical assessments, takes measurements, reviews medical records, collects data via interviews, and evaluates anthropometric status.
  • Evaluates assessment data to identify nutrition risks, nutrition problems, criteria consistent with malnutrition, knowledge deficits, and high-risk health behaviors.
  • Offers nutrition interventions, orders, education, counseling, and referrals to other services.
  • May place feeding tubes or perform indirect calorimetry studies.
  • Provides counseling and education using evidence-based techniques that reflect appropriate health literacy and cultural sensitivity to patients with disease processes requiring nutritional management.
  • Monitors and evaluates nutrition care plans to reach nutrition goals and promote optimal outcomes.
  • Supervises practice experience for dietetic interns, dietetic technicians, registration eligible dietitians and new employees, participates in research, performance improvement, and initiatives.
  • Enters complete, accurate, and timely electronic health record documentation. Enters nutrition orders when authorized by Medical Staff policy and procedure to reflect patient care.
  • Participates in patient care rounds, collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals to create nutrition plans of care.
  • Promotes evidence-based nutrition care and makes expertise available to foodservice areas.
  • Provides timely responses to internal electronic communication.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge and application of medical nutrition therapy. [Required]
  • General knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing, basic computer skills, e-mail and spreadsheet software. [Required]
  • Ability to search the web for nutrition research or practice updates and apply knowledge to updating reference materials, preparing for presentations, education, etc. [Required]
  • Reviews and/or updates resource/reference materials when applicable or required. [Required]
  • Identifies specific patient or staff needs, initiates and develops educational or clinical materials then evaluates outcomes. [Required]
  • Assures that care delivered to each patient is in accordance with established standards. [Required]
  • Skill and knowledge in working with an electronic health record system. [Required]
  • Provides appropriate intervention in accordance with the identified patient’s goals. [Required]
  • Reassesses and updates nutrition care process and implement changes as indicated. [Required]
  • Assessment, interventions and procedures utilizing equipment are appropriate for age group. [Required]
Education
  • Bachelor's [Required]
Field Of Study
  • at a U.S. regionally accredited university or college and course work approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of The Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics
  • Completes a CADE-accredited supervised practice program at a healthcare facility, community agency, or a foodservice corporation, or combined with undergraduate or graduate studies
  • Didactic program with strong focus in clinical nutrition
