Job summary

Natchitoches Regional Medical Center is seeking a Registered Dietitian to identify and assess nutritional needs, initiate interventions, and improve residents' quality of life. This is a hybrid role located in Natchitoches, LA, with opportunities for professional growth and extensive benefits.

The RD will perform nutrition assessments, educate residents, develop care plans for the care team, and participate in interdisciplinary meetings and quality initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nutrition (prior to 2024) or related field.
• Master's degree in Nutrition or related field.
• Passed national examination by the CDR or eligible as per the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
• Completes 75 hours of CE every five years using portfolio development.
• Licensed or certified per state requirements.
• Knowledge of regulation standards for comprehensive assessments and care planning.
• Ability to teach others about nutrition and dietetics.

Responsibilities

• Provide nutrition assessments for admissions, quarterly and annual reviews, tube feedings, weight changes, wounds, and significant changes in ADLs.
• Offer nutrition education as needed to residents.
• Create and update care plans for nurses and aides for meals and resident preferences.
• Complete MDS for Section K and CAAs.
• Use the nutrition-focused physical exam to identify malnutrition per ASPEN criteria.
• Attend care conference meetings with families to update on resident changes.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team during weekly clinical meetings.
• Participate in QAPI Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement meetings each quarter.
• Conduct monthly kitchen inspections and meal service audits.

We are looking to add aRegistered Dietitianto our healthcare team inNatchitoches, LA. What you'll be doing:

• Provide Nutrition Assessments for admissions, quarterly assessments, annual assessments, tube feedings, weight changes +/-4% in 1 month, wounds, and for significant change assessments (such as a hospice admission or a significant improvement in ADLs).
• Nutrition education as needed and requested by residents.
• Creation and quarterly updates on care plans for nurses/CNAs/CMAs to reference at meals and snacks to tailor to resident food preferences.
• Completion of MDS (Minimum Data Sheets) for Section K and CAAs.
• Use of the nutrition-focused physical exam to identify residents who meet criteria for malnutrition according to ASPEN Malnutrition Criteria.
• Care conference meetings with families to update them on changes with the resident.
• Collaboration with interdisciplinary team to provide resident-centered care during weekly clinical meetings.
• QAPI Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Meetings each quarter.
• Monthly Kitchen Inspections and Meal Service Audits

What we're looking for:

Must-haves:

• Bachelor’s degree in nutrition (Prior to 2024) or related field
• Master's degree in Nutrition or related field.
• Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) or meets the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics requirements for eligibility.
• Completes 75 hours of continuing education hours every five years, in accordance with the CDR, utilizing the professional portfolio development process.
• Licensed or certified, per state requirements.
• Knowledge of regulation standards specific to comprehensive assessments, care planning, and residents’ rights.
• Ability to teach others, specifically pertaining to nutrition and dietetics.

Nice-to-haves:.

• Experience working in healthcare or long-term care.
