Job summary

AltaMed Health Services is seeking a Registered Dietitian to clinically assess nutritional needs of patients and plan nutrition interventions within the interdisciplinary care team. The Dietitian will deliver Medical Nutrition Therapy, participate in care planning, and train staff on nutrition best practices.

Requirements include RD/RDN certification, 2+ years clinical nutrition experience, and diabetes experience; bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

• RD/RDN credential required for clinical practice.
• Minimum 2 years of professional work experience in clinical nutrition.
• Minimum 1 year of diabetes experience required.
• At least 1 year of prenatal diabetes experience preferred.
• Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or eligible preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• BL S/CPR certification or higher per guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Clinically assesses nutritional status and dietary needs of AltaMed patients.
• Provides consultation and interventions for participants, families, and care teams.
• Develops and implements plan of care with nutrition therapy.
• Performs Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) as required by patient needs and plans.
• Serves as internal nutrition resource, conducts staff training/materials on nutrition.

Job Overview

The Registered Dietitian clinically assesses the nutritional status and dietary needs of AltaMed patients to ensure adequate dietary intake, nutritional status, and chronic condition control. The Dietitian provides necessary consultation and intervention to participants, families, and the Interdisciplinary Care team as well as participates in the development of the plan of care, and implements and evaluates care according to patient‑specific medical conditions, history, and/or nutritional needs. Other responsibilities may include performing professional work in the application of Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to meet patient needs and in compliance with various health plans and county regulations. The Dietitian serves as an internal resource for nutrition, creates and conducts staff training/materials on nutrition, and provides services within a dietitian’s scope of practice.

Minimum Requirements

• Registered Dietitian (RD, RDN) as recognized by the Commission on Dietetics Registration required.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience in clinical nutrition as a Registered Dietitian preferred.
• A minimum of 1 year of diabetes experience is required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience working with prenatal patients, including gestational diabetes, preferred.
• Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or eligible preferred
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• A minimum requirement of a valid BLS certification or higher, following the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross guidelines.

Compensation

$77,233.52 - $96,541.90 annually
