Schmitt Dental in Mt. Juliet, TN is seeking a Registered Dental Hygienist to join our patient-centered team and deliver preventive care with a proactive, compassionate approach.

You will perform comprehensive hygiene procedures, educate patients on oral health, and collaborate with our dentist and staff to maintain exceptional patient experiences and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Associates or bachelor’s degree from an accredited School of Dental Hygiene.
• Active Dental Hygiene License.
• CRP Certification (CRP-BLS).
• Anesthesia certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Commitment to excellent customer service and communication.
• Follow HIPAA and OSHA guidelines.
• Provide patient care based on current guidelines by dental associations.
• Complete full periodontal assessment on every patient, every visit.
• Expose and evaluate diagnostic radiographs and intraoral photos/scans.
• Administer local anesthesia and monitor nitrous oxide as allowed.
• Maintain accurate chart notes and assist in hygiene scheduling.

JOB TITLE: Dental Hygienist

REPORTS TO: Practice Manager

Job Overview

We are looking for a Registered Dental Hygienist that loves building long lasting, healthy relationships with patients, with a can-do attitude and proactive nature. As a Dental Hygienist you will be a valued clinical provider that advocates for patients and provides exceptional patient care through the most current guidelines by the American Academy of Periodontology, ADA and ADHA. Our practice is committed to exceptional patient care where the entire team is patient-centric.

Key Responsibilities

• Commitment to excellent customer service and communication
• Exceptional time management skills
• Provide patient care based on most current guidelines provided by the American Academy of Periodontology, ADA and ADHA guidelines- specifically related to periodontal disease, radiographs, standard of care.
• Follow all HIPPA and OSHA guidelines
• Be comfortable with thoroughly, efficiently performing clinical hygiene functions including, but not limited to, as applicable by practice and or state law:
• Review and update medical history at every visit, record patient's blood pressure, and ensure all appropriate consent forms are signed prior to treatment
• Expose and evaluate diagnostic radiographs, intraoral photos/scans
• Complete a full periodontal assessment on every patient, every visit
  • Review treatment with doctor and educate each patient on treatment needs
  • Perform routine dental prophylaxis for periodontally healthy patients
  • Perform Non-surgical periodontal therapy (scaling/root planing) and provide associated adjunctive therapy including antimicrobials, antibiotics on periodontally compromised patients (as allowable by State Board/Certification)
  • Administer local anesthesia, monitor/provide Nitrous Oxide (as allowable by state Board of Dentistry and certification)
  • Screen for Oral Cancer
  • Identify caries risk level for patients and offer fluoride/sealants, as clinically needed
  • Maintain and complete accurate chart notes
  • Sterilize, disinfect, and prepare operatory per OSHA guidelines
  • Assist in administrative responsibilities to maintain productive hygiene schedule

Requirements (Education/Certifications)

• Associates or bachelor's degree from an accredited School of Dental Hygiene
• Active Dental Hygiene License
• CRP Certification (CRP-BLS)
• Anesthesia certification (preferred)
