Desert Sage Health Centers believes in patient-focused care delivered through a caring team of competent health care professionals. As a Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH), we pride ourselves on the quality of care provided to over 7,800 patients annually at three locations. Our system emphasizes prevention and healthy living to reduce disparities and avoid unnecessary emergency visits.

We are seeking an outgoing, compassionate, and hardworking individual to join our dental team as a Registered Dental Hygienist. If you find our mission and this position appealing, please take a moment to submit your application!

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Clinical care: Conduct dental histories and medical reviews, perform oral exams, evaluate periodontal health, perform scaling and root planing, administer prophylaxis and fluoride treatments, educate patients on oral hygiene, and maintain dental equipment and sterilize instruments.
  • Health Education: Provide dental educational materials and conduct in-service programs for schools and community groups. Teach effective plaque removal skills.
  • Record keeping and program evaluation: Maintain electronic dental records, develop and conduct dental health surveys, and review inventory of supplies and educational materials.
  • Program planning and community coordination: Assess community dental health needs, develop programs, and coordinate services with community organizations to enhance existing services.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS/CRITERIA
  1. Perform clinical services at a rate of at least one patient per hour.
  2. Serve 700-800 individuals annually.
  3. Follow all CLIA, OSHA, and HIPAA policies.
  4. Demonstrate cultural competency and effective communication skills.
  5. Learn and implement the electronic dental record system.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Licensed as a Registered Dental Hygienist in Idaho, including local anesthesia credentials.
  • Ability to carry equipment weighing approximately 40 pounds.
  • Valid Idaho driver’s license and reliable transportation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in public health and working with minority or disadvantaged groups.
  • Experience in education and current dental practices.
  • Bilingual/bicultural, especially with Hispanic populations.
