Dental Hygienist Job Responsibilities

• Promote dental health through procedures like prophylaxis, oral cancer screening, radiographs, and charting conditions, in compliance with the Dental Practice Act.
• Prepare patients for treatment by welcoming, seating, and draping them.
• Provide information to patients and staff by answering questions and requests.
• Maintain instrumentation by sharpening, sterilizing, and selecting tools.
• Select materials and evaluate patients' oral health for treatment planning.
• Perform dental prophylaxis by cleaning teeth and beneath gum margins.
• Detect diseases through screenings, examinations, and radiographs.
• Help prevent decay by applying fluorides and other agents.
