Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Registered Dental Assistant II shall perform all basic registered dental assistant duties such as coronal polishing, fabrication of temporary crowns, temporary fillings, impressions, and pit and fissure sealants. Responsibilities also include chairside assisting, rooming and dismissing patients, setting up and breaking down operatory rooms, taking x-rays, ensuring patient comfort, providing patient services, and sterilizing dental instruments and equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Listed below are the essential duties and responsibilities for this position. Reasonable accommodations will be provided as necessary to perform these duties:

  • Chairside assisting during various treatment procedures
  • Learning each dentist’s preferred practices and tray setups
  • Following OSHA, Dental Board, and health center policies and procedures
  • Maintaining proper patient treatment records
  • Providing oral hygiene instructions to patients
  • Setting up and breaking down operatory rooms
  • Preparing units and water supplies before patient treatment
  • Assessing medical history and taking vital signs
  • Preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment
  • Ensuring patient comfort before, during, and after treatment
  • Providing post-operative oral care instructions
  • Teaching oral hygiene strategies
  • Stocking supplies
  • Traveling to other clinics as needed
  • Setting up treatment trays
  • Seating and dismissing patients
  • Assisting with receptionist duties
  • Assisting with referrals and billing
  • Tracking lab cases
  • Maintaining patient records
  • Reporting non-compliance issues
  • Creating a collaborative environment
  • Taking dental radiographs
  • Training new assistants
  • Performing basic registered dental assistant functions as approved
  • Performing pit and fissure sealants
  • Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications

The following are the minimum requirements for this position:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One year of RDA experience
  • Registered Dental Assistant License
  • Certifications in Dental Practice Act, Infection Control, BLS, Radiation Safety, Coronal Polish, and Sealants
  • Skills include professionalism, teamwork, proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, EHR systems, multitasking, initiative, punctuality, communication, customer service, lifting up to 20 pounds, and physical stamina.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

The environment is characteristic of a clinical setting. Employees must frequently sit, handle, stand, walk, reach, and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds. Specific vision and hearing abilities are required. The work may involve contact with individuals in crisis, exposure to bodily fluids, and hazardous chemicals, with noise levels typically loud.
