Job summary

Rodeo Dental in Temple, TX is seeking a Registered Dental Assistant to deliver direct patient care across orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery. You will work in the back office and in our lobbies, engaging and caring for patients throughout their visits.

The role requires a flexible schedule with possible evenings and weekends. Strong emphasis on patient safety, infection control, and accurate charting. Prior experience with dental software is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE) is required.
  • Active CPR and AED training is required.
  • Current certification to monitor Nitrous Oxide is preferred.
  • Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA and Infection Control training.
  • Experience with dental practice management software (Open Dental/Dentrix) is helpful.
  • Sealant, Coronal Polishing, or PALS certifications are a huge plus.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • End of week inventory to replenish inventory.
  • Prioritize patient safety and team safety.
  • Adhere to OSHA and infection control protocols; dispose of sharps safely.
  • Maintain digital patient records including health history, eligibility, plans, pre-authorizations, labs and appointments.
  • Educate patients and parents on oral health benefits.
  • Monitor patient well-being during visits.
  • Prepare tray setups according to doctor preferences.
  • Ensure exam rooms are cleaned, disinfected, organized and stocked at start and end of interactions.
  • Update patient charts with treatments and health history as needed.
  • Review charts and history before doctor arrival and reconfirm concerns.
  • Take diagnostic X-Rays and attach to patient chart.
  • Assist in cleaning and sanitizing fixtures and areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Registered Dental Assistant is a key member and contributor in creating an amazing, one-of-a-kind Patient Experience. The RDA will provide direct patient care in all dental specialties, including orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery. Successful candidates will work in the Back Office and in our world-class lobbies engaging, entertaining, and caring for our patients.

SCHEDULE:

This position requires a flexible schedule that may require extended hours as business requires – including evenings and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must maintain an active Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) License registered with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE)
  • Active CPR and AED training
  • Current certification to monitor Nitrous Oxide preferred
  • Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA and Infection Control training
  • Dental practice management software (Open Dental/Dentrix) experience helpful
  • Sealant, Coronal Polishing, or PALS Certifications are all a huge plus!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • End of week inventory to be provided to Lead DA to replenish inventory
  • Focusing on Patient Safety and Team Safety as priority one
  • Adhering to OSHA and Infection Control Protocols, and disposing of sharps and clinical waste in a prompt and safe manner
  • Maintaining digital patient artifacts such as health history, insurance eligibility, treatment plans, pre-authorizations, lab requests, procedures, and appointment details
  • Educating patients and parents on the benefits of good oral health
  • Monitoring the patient's physical and emotional well-being during the entire visit
  • Preparing tray set-ups according to doctor preferences and planned procedures
  • Ensuring that exam rooms and operatories are cleaned, disinfected, organized, and stocked according to the required standards at the beginning and end of each patient interaction
  • Charting existing treatment for new patients by updating the patient chart with entries for fillings, crowns, sealants, etc.
  • Reviewing the patient chart and health history prior to the doctor arrival and reconfirming the patient's chief concern
  • Taking diagnostic quality X-Rays and attaching them to the patient chart
  • Helping the Rodeo Team clean surfaces, sinks, floors and common areas of exam rooms, operatories, reception, break rooms, restrooms, etc.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Prolonged sitting and standing as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs
