Registered Dental Assistants perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties. The primary role of the Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) is to assist the dentist in gaining the patient’s commitment to the best possible treatment, with urgency. Key duties include:

  • Assisting the dentist to gain patient commitment for treatment
  • Participating in the Perfect Patient ExperienceÔ by focusing on patient needs and concerns
  • Maintaining a clean, sterile, and welcoming environment
  • Completing x-rays and intra-oral pictures as directed
  • Instructing patients on postoperative and oral health care
  • Sterilizing and disinfecting instruments and equipment
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and health regulations

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, with required state training courses
  • Relevant certifications/licenses as mandated by state
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience preferred
