Job Overview

Registered Dental Assistants perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties. The primary role of the RDA is to assist the dentist in gaining the patient’s commitment to the best possible treatment, with urgency. Responsibilities include utilizing x-ray time to promote the qualities of the dentist, educating patients with intra-oral pictures, supporting the dentist’s diagnosis, and adhering to safety, infection control, and permitted duties in compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist to gain patient commitment for treatment with urgency.
• Participate in the Perfect Patient ExperienceÔ by focusing on patient needs and concerns.
• Maintain a clean, sterile, and welcoming environment; prepare patients and assist doctors for efficient, quality treatment.
• Complete x-rays and intra-oral pictures as directed by the dentist.
• Instruct patients on postoperative and oral health care.
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment per ADA guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with all safety and health regulations (OSHA, HIPAA, etc.).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; required training courses for certification, licensure, or registration as mandated by state.
• Applicable certifications/licenses (e.g., radiograph, ultrasonic scaling, sealants).
• Associate degree or one-year certificate from an accredited institution preferred.

Compensation

$23.50-$32.75 per hour.
