Job Summary
Under the direction of the Dental Director, the Registered Dental Assistant assists with oral surgeries and other procedures, prepares and arranges necessary tools and instruments, and takes, processes, and develops dental X-rays.

Job Status: Full-time, Temporary, Hourly Non-exempt

Duties/Responsibilities

• Takes, processes, and develops dental X-rays.
• Follows oral and written instructions accurately.
• Analyzes situations to adopt effective courses of action.
• Works efficiently in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
• Collaborates effectively with staff and volunteers.
• Handles stressful situations calmly and professionally.
• Uses the EMR system and other office computer programs proficiently.
• Accesses patient protected health information as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge of dental assistant procedures, sterilization, and instrument care.
• Ability to interpret dental files and charts.
• Effective communication skills with all individuals.
• Courteous and professional demeanor.
• Proficiency in English (verbal and written).
• Bilingual/bicultural skills preferred.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Active California Registered Dental Assistant license.
• At least one year of chairside dental assistance experience.
• Completion of board-approved courses in radiation safety, coronal polishing, Dental Practice Act, and infection control.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification (must be through the American Heart Association; online certificates are not valid).

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

• Ability to lift 24 pounds.
• Work may involve sitting, standing, repetitive motions, and frequent phone conversations.
• No emergency medical or first aid duties required.
