Registered Dental Assistant
Position Summary
The Registered Dental Assistant is a member of the interdisciplinary health care team which functions to meet the objectives of the programs of Northeast Community Clinic. The Registered Dental Assistant will be responsible for providing complete in-scope care for all patients under the direction of the supervising licensed dentist(s), the Dental Director, by written protocols of the Management Staff.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- RDA must perform duties as approved by NECC privileging, including, but not limited to: X-Rays/imaging, removal of sutures and dressings, coronal polishing, take impressions, apply fluoride and administer topical medications, application pit and fissure sealants, removal of excess cement, adjust dentures extra-orally, fabrication and placement of temporary crowns.
- Perform all procedures as within the scope of RDA training and as approved by NECC's Privileging.
- Perform duties that support the dentist in increasing the workflow and efficiency capabilities of the clinic.
- Ensure an optimized treatment planning including updating patient dental records and preventative/routine dental care in accordance with patient's dental health needs.
- Provide patient education including brushing, flossing, overall oral/dental care health, and the importance of routine dental visits.
- Ensure all of NECC's Dental Quality Improvement goals/initiatives are met.
- The RDA will be cross trained in all front & back-office duties.
- Expected to work collaboratively with other dental team members to ensure patient's dental care needs are met including access to dental care, highly efficient workflow and high-quality dental care.
- Responsible to maintain clean and organized working environment in accordance with most recent safety and infection control procedures.
- Ensure a High Level of Communication with Dental Manager to ensure supplies are stocked, orders are performed, equipment receives routine maintenance, staffing coverage is met, and any issues that may impact patient care are addressed.
- Participate in staff meetings, assist in training of staff, maintain/improve operational flow and ensure optimal patient care.
- Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with all staff.
- Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by Management.
Minimum Requirements
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent Communication Skills
- Excellent Customer Service (Bedside Manners)
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Ability to work as a team player and work independently
- Reliable transportation
- Must be able to travel from facility to facility
- This position requires 10 % travel outside the local area.
Required Education/Experience And/or Licensure/Certifications
- Dental Assistant Certificate, Certified Dental Assistant, or higher.
- High School Diploma and/or GED equivalent preferred but not required.
- Proof of completing radiation safety course
- Active CA license and certification as a Registered Dental Assistant
- One (1) year minimum experience as a Registered Dental Assistant
- Knowledge of Dentrix and Digital x-rays, preferred
- Commitment to goals and philosophy of Northeast Community Clinic
- Current CPR and/or BLS Certification
- Valid State Identification
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- OSHA Category 1 - Involves exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
- The work is majority of the time sedentary in nature.
- The employee is regularly required to communicate, frequently required to use repetitive motions, move, remain stationary, regularly push, pull and lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Must possess mobility to work in a standard office/clinic setting (in some cases both settings) and to use standard office/clinic equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, read printed materials and use a computer, and communicate in person and over the telephone.
