Job summary

St. Croix Hospice in Wisconsin is seeking a Regional Volunteer Coordinator to manage and expand the volunteer program across multiple sites, ensuring compliance with agency policies and CHAP requirements.

You will recruit, onboard, train volunteers, coordinate with departments, and support patient care plans while traveling to Black River Falls, Marshfield, Stevens Point, River Falls, and Hudson.

Qualifications

• College degree in human services or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of one year in a healthcare setting.
• Experience in recruitment and onboarding is a plus.
• Ability to supervise, coordinate, and evaluate volunteer services.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; team-oriented.
• Ability to multitask, manage projects, and work independently.
• Must be a licensed driver with insured vehicle and willing to travel up to 60%.
• Ability to pass DHS background check.

Responsibilities

• Assures volunteer program is in compliance with agency policy and procedure.
• Meets Medicare and NHPCOs standards for compliance and agency goals.
• Assists in interviewing and selection for new volunteers to fill vacancies.
• Onboard and train volunteers; provide a welcoming and supportive culture.
• Assess volunteer needs and develop new volunteer programs.
• Ensure delivery of volunteer services aligns with patient’s plan of care.
• Manage and place volunteers in appropriate assignments.
• Ensure patient privacy per HIPAA regulations.
• Maintain volunteer personnel files.
• Provide ongoing assessments and support volunteers with regular interaction.
• Recognize and celebrate volunteers to grow retention.
• Report grievances/complaints to Manager of Volunteer Services and assist with follow-up.
• Provide information to individuals and groups about hospice volunteer services.
• Participate in budget planning for program development.
• Participate in quality improvement activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Regional Volunteer Coordinator

Position Overview

The Regional Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of the volunteer program consistent with St. Croix Hospice policies and procedures ensuring CHAP requirements are met and followed. This role will support the overall operations of the department by organizing, implementing, and maintaining the volunteer program at the branch level. This a Monday-Friday position that requires frequent travel to Black River Falls, Marshfield, Stevens Point, River Falls, and Hudson.

Responsibilities

• Assures volunteer program is in compliance with agency policy and procedure. Meets Medicare and NHPCOs standards for compliance and agency goals.
• Assists in the interviewing and selection process for new volunteers to fill vacancies and build a team.
• Onboard and train volunteers while providing a welcoming and supportive culture.
• Assess volunteer needs based on discussions with various departments, encourage staff to use volunteers as feasible, and develop new volunteer programs.
• Ensures the delivery of all volunteer services are in accordance with the patient's plan of care.
• Manage and place volunteers in appropriate assignments.
• Ensure patient privacy is met in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Ensures volunteer personnel files are maintained and current on all volunteers.
• Provide ongoing assessments and support the needs of the volunteer with regular interaction and encouragement.
• Provide recognition and celebration of volunteers to grow retention and volunteer engagement.
• Reports all grievances/complaints made by patients and families to the Manager of Volunteer Services and assists with follow up.
• Provides information to individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer services.
• Participates as needed in the budget preparation for program development.
• Actively participates in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements/Qualifications

• College degree or advanced degree in human services, or equivalent experience preferred
• Minimum of one (1) year - experience in a healthcare setting.
• Experience in recruitment and onboarding a plus
• Ability to supervise, coordinate, and evaluate volunteer services
• Demonstrated ability to work well with an interdisciplinary team
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to multitask, handle interruptions, and manage projects independently
• Understands hospice philosophy
• Ability to organize and develop volunteer hospice personnel for both patient and organizational needs
• Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state or organization requirements and is in good working order
• This is a regional position that may require up to 60% travel to various sites.
• Ability to pass DHS background study.

Preferred

• Hospice and/or volunteer experience preferred.
