Mutual Capital Services, Inc. seeks a Regional Underwriting Manager - CL to lead commercial lines underwriting across a designated region. You’ll guide a team, maintain profitability, and build strong agency partnerships.

Flexible work location is offered; travel may be required. Ideal candidates have 5–7 years of underwriting leadership, with experience across Property, GL, Auto, and Inland Marine. Industry certifications are preferred, and collaboration with leadership is critical.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred; college degree or equivalent experience considered.
• Professional designations such as CPCU, CIC, AU, or ARM are preferred.
• Minimum 5–7 years of commercial lines underwriting experience, with leadership or supervisory experience.
• Experience underwriting Commercial Property, GL, Auto, and Inland Marine.
• Proven ability to manage profitability, portfolio performance, and agency relations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to lead teams through change.

The Regional Underwriting Manager - CL is responsible for leading and managing commercial lines underwriting operations within an assigned geographic region. This position provides leadership, direction, and technical underwriting guidance to a team of commercial lines underwriters while ensuring adherence to company underwriting guidelines, profitability objectives, and service standards.

The Regional Underwriting Manager - CL is accountable for achieving regional production, growth, retention, and underwriting profitability goals while developing strong relationships with agency partners. This position works collaboratively with underwriting leadership and other departments to support the company's overall business objectives and strategic initiatives.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Education

• College degree or comparable work experience
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Professional insurance designations such as CPCU, CIC, AU, or ARM are preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 5-7 years of commercial lines property and casualty underwriting experience.
• Prior underwriting management, supervisory, or team leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience underwriting multiple commercial lines of business, including Commercial Property, Commercial General Liability, Commercial Auto, and Commercial Inland Marine.
• Experience working with independent insurance agents and managing agency relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to manage underwriting profitability, portfolio performance, and business growth.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong technical knowledge of commercial lines insurance products, underwriting principles, pricing, and risk selection.
• Proven leadership, coaching, employee development, and performance management skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with agency partners, employees, and internal stakeholders.

• Proficiency with underwriting systems, Microsoft Office applications, and insurance-related tools.
• Ability to adapt to changing business conditions and effectively lead teams through organizational and operational changes.
