Job summary

Association of Village Council Presidents seeks a Community Risk Coordinator to coordinate regional climate adaptation and emergency preparedness initiatives across AVCP Tribal communities. You will work with Tribal and city governments, regional partners, and technical assistance providers to strengthen resilience and preparedness capacity.

You will conduct outreach, facilitate planning events, support training and exercises, and help develop regional partnerships to enhance Tribal emergency

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
• Understanding of basic grant management and budgeting processes.
• Strong computer and software skills, with the ability to learn project management tools and use technology effectively.
• Knowledge of Tribal governance structures and the importance of culturally appropriate engagement.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain organized documentation.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate regional climate adaptation and emergency preparedness across AVCP Tribal communities.
• Develop and update emergency response plans (SCERPs) and preparedness planning.
• Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments for wildfires, floods, permafrost thaw, extreme weather and erosion.
• Collect and analyze community risk data to inform resilience planning.
• Travel to communities to facilitate planning events and workshops.
• Support training, exercises, and regional partnerships for emergency management.
• Prepare agendas, take notes, and coordinate follow-up for Regional Resource Coordination Committee meetings.
