Job summary

Amazon seeks a Transportation Operations Manager in California to oversee operations across multiple sites in a defined region. You will drive process improvements, lead a team of area managers, and ensure safety, quality, and customer experience while meeting tight deadlines.

You will support strategic planning, coach staff, and share best practices across shifts. Travel up to 50% may be required; a Bachelor's degree or equivalent (or 2+ years Amazon) is expected, with Lean/Six Sigma experience

Qualifications

• 3+ years of employee and performance management experience.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience.
• Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
• 1+ years of performance metrics, process improvement or lean techniques experience.
• Experience managing a team of 2+ salaried employees and 70+ indirect employees.
• Experience scoping, leading, and implementing process improvements through: Lean process, Kaizen, and/or Six Sigma.
• Demonstrated problem solving skills and analytical skills.
• Excellent customer service skills, communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Track record of meeting or exceeding department performance goals.
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain/Logistics, or a related field.
• Experience in: military, manufacturing, automotive, biotech, electronics, energy, instrumentation, machinery, defense/aerospace, medical, cosmetics, production, or distribution environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of Transportation Area Managers that are located within the individual sites in an effort to streamline logistics within each individual operation.
• Responsible for the overall safety, quality and performance and customer experience of your region.
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.
• Accountability for meeting and exceeding operational goals.
• Strategic planning and forecasting; appraise performance; reward and coach employees; resolve problems; address staffing needs.
• Mentor, train and develop teammates for career progression and learning.
• Ability to develop and share best practices across the shifts and network.
• Travel up to 50% may be required.
• Candidates must be flexible to work a variety of hours as business demands, including overnight, weekends and holidays.
