Job summary
Maine Department of Transportation is seeking an Assistant Transportation Engineer for the summer construction season. You will perform moderately complex engineering tasks to support the construction and maintenance of transportation infrastructure, systems and facilities, with mentorship of junior staff.
Responsibilities include inspecting contractor work, interpreting plans, testing materials, and contributing to design and estimation efforts on projects such as culvert crossings and drainage
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or closely related field required.
- Certification as Engineer Intern issued by the Maine State Board if non-degreed.
Responsibilities
- Acting as an inspector by verifying, measuring, and documenting the work performed by private contractors.
- Interpreting project plans and specifications.
- Sampling and testing construction materials.
- Leading the design and estimation efforts for various projects, including large culvert crossings, small drainage systems.
- Assisting with highway paving estimates, including lidar alignment design.
