Job Description:

Join a dynamic Regional Transportation Team supporting domestic operations for a leading distribution company. This role manages transportation activities into and out of distribution centers, with responsibility for either regional operations or critical real estate footprint project work. You'll work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where adaptability and strong communication skills are essential.

Work Schedule: Monday-Thursday in office, Friday remote

Responsibilities
  • Inbox Management & Response: Monitor and respond to transportation-related inquiries from field teams and distribution centers within 24-hour sundown rule
  • Regional Support: Serve as primary transportation resource for assigned distribution center(s), managing all inbound and outbound transportation activities
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Gather and compile raw data from multiple sources; conduct research on industry trends and benchmarks; normalize data into centralized formats
  • Performance Analysis: Analyze transportation metrics, compare against industry/company benchmarks, identify trends, and prepare cost analyses
  • Reporting & Documentation: Create spreadsheets, reports with charts and graphs, and ad hoc analyses; define data definitions and document data limitations
  • Stakeholder Communication: Adapt communication style to various building leaders' preferences (Teams, email, phone, text); proactively engage with remote distribution center teams
  • Strategic Recommendations: Provide actionable recommendations based on findings and analysis; contribute input on policies and procedures
  • Project Support: Participate in real estate footprint changes and other strategic transportation initiatives
Qualifications

Education:

  • BS/BA in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related discipline

Technical Skills:

  • Intermediate to advanced Excel proficiency (data manipulation, combining multiple data sources, creating digestible reports)
  • Strong analytical capabilities with attention to detail
  • Transportation or logistics background preferred (carrier-side or corporate experience both valued)

Essential Soft Skills (Critical Success Factors):

  • Stress Management: Thrives in high-pressure, fast-paced environment with competing priorities
  • Proactive Communication: Speaks up, asks questions, and advocates for needs without waiting to be approached
  • Accountability & Ownership: Takes responsibility for work quality and regional performance
  • Adaptability: Works effectively with ambiguity and limited formal documentation/SOPs
  • Multitasking: Manages multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritizes effectively
  • Independent Worker: Operates autonomously once trained; seeks guidance when needed but doesn't require constant oversight
  • Problem Solving: Quickly catches on to new concepts and troubleshoots issues independently
What We're Looking For

This role prioritizes personality fit and soft skills over technical experience. We value:

  • Resilience under pressure (transportation can be stressful day-to-day)
  • Team players who align with company core values: doing the right thing, integrity, and smart decision-making
  • Clear communicators who can build relationships with remote stakeholders they rarely meet in person
  • Self-starters who take ownership of their region/projects

Note: We're open to candidates ranging from recent college graduates to experienced professionals. The right attitude and work style matter more than years of experience.

  • Conversion to Full-Time: Strong contractor-to-FTE conversion track record (90-day to 4-month timeline) based on performance
  • Technical Development: Team is building capabilities in Business Intelligence, SQL, and TMS systems
  • Career Progression: Opportunity to advance within a diverse, growing 10-person team
  • Autonomy: Increased independence and decision-making authority as you demonstrate competence
Team Culture
  • Collaborative, supportive environment with accessible leadership
  • Open-door policy and approachable management style
  • Organically diverse team (gender, background, experience levels)
  • Manager advocates for team members and provides backup when needed
