Job summary

Aston Carter's Transportation Operations group in Atlanta seeks a Logistics Specialist to manage daily freight flows into and out of North American fulfillment centers and the related network.

You will pull data from Excel, Access, and SQL, perform ad hoc reporting, and present weekly findings with narratives to highlight variances and opportunities for improvement. The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration and process optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
• Ability to pull and analyze data with ease and drive process improvements.
• Experience with reporting and using data to identify root causes and efficiencies.

Responsibilities

• Continual, tactical communication with external customers (Carriers, Vendors/Suppliers).
• Pull data from multiple databases and perform ad hoc reporting and analysis.
• Review data related to appointment and arrival times and make decisions to improve processes.
• Create narratives of weekly findings and present variances to goals in review forums.
• Work within time constraints to meet critical business needs and measure activities.
• Lead initiatives to re-engineer business processes and eliminate root causes of defects.
• Escaping problems or data variances to relevant owners and ensuring resolutions.

• Scope out business and functional requirements for Amazon tech teams who build tools.

Job description

Our Transportation Operations team is seeking highly skilled and motivated Logistics Specialists to assist in the management of daily freight movements flowing into and out of our North American fulfillment centers and our associated fulfillment network. This is an exciting opportunity to join a new team in a huge growth area.

• Continual, tactical communication and account management with external customers (Carriers, Vendors/Suppliers)
• Ability to pull data from numerous databases (using Excel, Access, SQL and/or other data management systems) and to perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed.
• Review data and reports related to appointment and arrival times and the ability to make business decisions/process improvement based off of reported data.
• Excellent communication, both verbal and written as you will be required to create a narrative outlining your weekly findings and the variances to goals, and present these finding in a review forum.
• Work within various time constraints to meet critical business needs, while measuring and identifying activities performed.
• Lead initiatives to re-engineer business processes and identify and eliminate root causes of defects in order to drive efficiency in Amazon’s transportation operations.
• Must be able to systematically escape problems or variance in the information and data to the relevant owners and teams and follow through on the resolutions to ensure they are delivered.
• Develop performance metrics to assist with driving business results.
• Ability to scope out business and functional requirements for the Amazon tech teams who create and enhance the software systems and tools we use.
• Must be able to quickly understand the business impact of the trends and make decisions that make sense based on available data.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

An ideal candidate has a background in transportation and excellent program management skills. They have the ability to pull and analyze data with ease, drive process improvements, standardize our processes and eliminate the root cause of defects within the current systems. This job will require exceptional communication skills while having the ability to work independently in a high pressure environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Logistics or Transportation Experience preferred
• MS Office experience required, with intermediate level in Excel
• Bachelors is a plus
• Experience in manufacturing, transportation, customer service, and/or distribution environments.
• Data management & data quality control experience with experience pulling and analyzing large sets of data
• Demonstrated experience using data to drive root cause elimination and process improvement.
• A self-starter who loves data and who enjoys spotting the trends in it!

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Atlanta, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
