Job summary

VELCO is seeking a Transmission Planning Engineer to analyze and develop transmission system improvements for the Vermont grid within the New England framework. You will perform planning studies, document results, and collaborate with ISO-NE and NYISO to ensure reliability.

The role requires experience with PowerWorld, PSLF or PSS/E, and programming in Python and C variants, along with strong communication skills and team collaboration.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
• Experience with electrical system planning tools and modeling.
• Strong communication and collaboration across stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and analyze transmission improvement scenarios to enhance reliability of the Vermont integrated system as part of the New England region.
• Plan and conduct planning studies (load flow, stability) per reliability standards.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external utilities to develop solutions and document analyses.
