Job summary

thyssenkrupp Presta North America seeks a Regional Trade Compliance Manager to lead import/export governance, audits, and risk management across the Americas. You will collaborate with Sales, Procurement, and Operations to ensure regulatory compliance and optimize duty exposure.

The role requires 5–7 years in trade compliance, strong CBP/Mexico customs knowledge, and SAP ERP experience, with a focus on automotive manufacturing processes and supplier qualification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Customs Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
• 5-7 years in international trade compliance or related functions.
• Experience in US and Mexico operations preferred; automotive/manufacturing background preferred.
• Strong knowledge of CBP regulations, USMCA origin rules, RVC, and FTAs.
• Familiarity with SAP ERP modules MM/PP/SD and related trade compliance processes.

Responsibilities

Salary: $105,000-$120,000 based on experience
The Regional Trade Compliance Manager is responsible for providing trade compliance support, governance, auditing, and business partnership across the Americas region. This role serves as the primary trade compliance contact for regional sourcing, localization, tariff management, and USMCA qualification activities while supporting import and export operations for the Development Center. Working closely with Sales, Procurement, Supply Chain, and plant-based Trade Compliance personnel, the Regional Trade Compliance Manager ensures regulatory compliance, manages trade-related risk, supports cost recovery strategies, and drives continuous improvement through auditing, reporting, and operational support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide trade compliance oversight and support for Development Center import and export activities, ensuring adherence to customs regulations, free trade agreements, and internal compliance requirements.
• Support sourcing, localization, and product development initiatives through country-of-origin determinations, regional value content (RVC) calculations, and free trade agreement qualification analysis.
• Evaluate trade compliance impacts of supplier changes, localization projects, and new sourcing strategies to optimize duty exposure and support compliant supply chain decisions.
• Ensure tariff, duty, and customs-related cost exposure is identified, quantified, and communicated to commercial teams while supporting customer recovery strategies and contractual compliance requirements.
• Support implementation of corporate trade compliance policies and procedures while maintaining regional KPI reporting, compliance metrics, and risk assessments.
• Conduct periodic audits of import and export transactions, customs entries, broker activities, valuation declarations, origin determinations, and trade program utilization to verify regulatory compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Provide guidance and support to plant-based Trade Compliance personnel, Supply Chain, Procurement, Sales, and Operations teams on complex customs and trade-related matters.
• Partner with plant Trade Compliance teams to resolve operational issues, monitor broker performance, support reconciliation activities, and drive corrective actions when compliance risks are identified.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen trade compliance processes through training, analytics, and proactive risk management initiatives while ensuring alignment with AT governance requirements.
• Performs other related duties as assigned to support company goals.

• Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Customs Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in international trade compliance, customs compliance, import/export operations, or a related field.
• Experience supporting manufacturing operations within the United States and Mexico preferred.
• Experience working within the automotive or industrial manufacturing industry strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience managing trade compliance programs across multiple sites, business units, or geographic regions.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and Mexican customs requirements.
• Extensive understanding of USMCA rules of origin, regional value content (RVC) calculations, and free trade agreement qualification requirements.
• Knowledge of customs valuation, tariff classification, country of origin determination, duty drawback, reconciliation, and special customs programs.
• Understanding of export controls, denied party screening, sanctions compliance, and import/export licensing requirements.
• Familiarity with trade compliance implications related to sourcing, localization, and supply chain network decisions.
• Working knowledge of tariff programs, trade remedies, and customs duties, including Section 232, Section 301, and anti-dumping/countervailing duty programs.
• Strong working knowledge of SAP ERP, including the Materials Management (MM), Production Planning (PP), and Sales & Distribution (SD) modules, with the ability to understand and support trade compliance requirements within procurement, manufacturing, inventory management, logistics, and customer fulfillment processes.
• Familiarity with SAP reporting and data analysis tools to support customs compliance monitoring, duty management, trade program qualification, and regulatory audits.
