Job summary

Ergon Inc. seeks a Regional Technical Operations Manager to oversee all technical needs for the Crafco product line, including crack sealants, mastics, and waterproofing materials.

The role serves as the hub between management, production, lab, manufacturing operations, sales and marketing. Responsibilities include providing technical support, optimizing plant efficiency, QA/QC, supplier evaluations, and driving new technologies from concept to commercialization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, engineering or related field preferred.
• Significant asphalt technology experience could substitute for a degree.
• Minimum 2 years with a bachelor's; 5+ years with no degree.
• Experience formulating polymer modified asphalt for roofing/waterproofing.
• Strong MS Office, communication, and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely technical support and communication to PCR plants producing crack sealants and mastics.
• Facilitate operational consistency across the plant network.
• Manage formulation with Paragon and Crafco MQT to optimize efficiency and costs.
• Oversee the Quality Management system for compliance with standards.
• Collaborate with Sales and Technical Marketing on field performance feedback.
• Evaluate and source raw materials with supply and procurement.
• Develop new technological processes to benchmark assets and chemistries.
• Drive new products from concept through commercialization with labs and engineering.
• Deploy plant assets and chemistry to deliver technologies; scale from lab to plant.
• Participate in product/process evaluation and strategic tech initiatives.

Job description

The Regional Technical Operations Manager is accountable for managing all of the technical needs for all product offerings from the Crafco brand (crack sealant, mastics, waterproofing materials etc.). This position is the communication hub between departments including; Management, Production, Lab, Plant/Manufacturing Operations, Sales, and Marketing.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide timely technical support and communication to PCR plants that produce crack sealants, aggregate filled repair mastics, bulk roofing and waterproofing through formulation support, troubleshooting issues, product QA/QC, investigations into quality failures, audits and facilitation of those systems.
• Work to facilitate operational consistency with assets and operational procedures throughout the overall plant network.
• Manage the formulation process with Paragon and Crafco MQT work to optimize plant efficiency and raw material costs.
• Oversee the Quality Management system to ensure compliance with Crafco, PPM and Agency Plan requirements.
• Work with Sales and Technical Marketing to provide feedback on field performance of all products and applications.
• Work with supply and procurement in evaluation and selection effort of all raw materials in the facilities.
• Establish new technological processes to benchmark assets, chemistry, and raw materials available to the market from inside and outside of the asphalt industry.
• Ensure facilities are fully supported through routine interaction with operations, marketing, and technical marketing.
• Partner with local labs and Engineering departments to drive new products and technologies from concept through commercialization.
• Manage the process to deploy plant assets/ chemistry/ etc. to deliver technologies.
• Responsible for the scale up of process from lab to plant production.
• Participate in product and process evaluation, development, and execution of strategic technology initiatives.
• Participate in the development, presentation, and implementation of new ideas, concepts, assets, chemistries, etc. for A&E management to consider.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, engineering or related field is preferred.
• Significant asphalt technology experience could be considered in lieu of a technical degree.
• Minimum 2 years of experience required with a bachelor's degree. A minimum of 5 years of experience is required with no degree.
• Experience with formulating and support of polymer modified asphalt, particularly roofing, water proofing, crack sealant, and mastic preferred.
• Excelled management, communication, and computer skills in MS Office, Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Must be willing and able to travel at least 50% of the time.
• Candidate needs to be located near a major airport hub for ease of transportation.
