Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer | Regional Technical Leader to provide both technical leadership and people management within our Power and Energy practice. You will guide protection and control projects, mentor engineers, and support growth initiatives for a high‑performing team.

The role requires experience in protective relaying, SCADA, and power system studies, with travel to regional offices including OH, PA, NJ, NY, VA, and GA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or related field.
• PE licensure required or equivalent.
• 15+ years in electrical power/utility engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, delivery, and technical execution of high‑voltage substation protection and control projects.
• Serve as technical authority for relaying, control systems, SCADA integration, and communications.
• Develop and review protection/ control deliverables (schematics, wiring, relay settings).
• Lead power system studies, protection coordination, and equipment selection.
• Manage team utilization, budgets, schedules, and client satisfaction.
• Support business development, proposals, and client relationships.
