Job summary

Atkore seeks a Regional Service Center Manager in Harvey, IL to lead the distribution center operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory control, warehousing, and transportation. The role reports to the Senior Director of RSC Operations and requires Lean/project management experience to optimize performance.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in supply chain and 10+ years of leadership in warehouse/logistics, with strong Lean/Six Sigma background.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of warehouse and logistics experience.
• 5-7 years of experience managing a distribution facility with budget responsibility of $12-15MM.
• Experience with WMS, JDE and RF Smart is highly desired.
• Experience with lean and six sigma processes and/or Lean/Six Sigma certification is desired.

Who we are looking for:

We are searching for a Regional Service Center Manager for our Harvey, IL facility. Reporting to the Senior Director of RSC Operations this person will be the primary leader of the distribution center. This position is accountable for shipping & receiving, inventory management, warehousing, and transportation functions. The RSC Manager leads exempt and non-exempt associates across multiple shifts of operation. Demonstrated experience using Lean tools and a track record of project management is desired.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in supply chain management with 10+ years of leadership experience. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

What you’ll do:

• Work closely with our Customer Service, Manufacturing, Demand Planning and Corporate Transportation departments, this position will oversee the day-to-day distribution, warehousing, and fulfillment operations by maintaining and enhancing existing standards.
• Ensure the highest standards achieved in the distribution center in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
• Drive consistency and cost reduction through the creation and implementation of standard work.
• Creating, implementing, and managing distribution center KPI’s.
• Leading and collaborating with cross-functional teams in Kaizen and Lean.
• Collaborating with cross functional teams to investigate service failures, and develop, implement, and monitor appropriate corrective and preventative action.
• Develop and manage distribution center, inventory & transportation workforce with performance assessments, professional development coaching, etc.
• Develop and implement processes to improve the Commercial Metrics, Atkore’s measure of on‑time delivery.

What you’ll bring:

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience
• 10+ years of warehouse and logistics experience
• 5-7 years of experience managing a distribution facility with responsibility for a budget of $12-15MM
• Experience with WMS, JDE and RF Smart highly desired
• Experience with lean and six sigma processes and/or Lean/Six Sigma certification desired

Within 3 months, you’ll:

• Complete the Atkore Immersion program.
• Learn the Atkore Business System and how we use LEAN principles in running our business.
• Develop a thorough understanding of JDE/RF-Smart as related to warehouse transactions.
• Develop a thorough understanding of the local collective bargaining agreement and how to apply as needed.

Within 6 months, you’ll:

• Know and understand Atkore’s Strategic Summary and how your role contributes to the Strategic Deployment Process.
• Lead individual development plans with warehouse supervisors to enhance their performance.
• Participate in a Kaizen event relevant to your scope of work to improve or develop a new process.
• Participate in network expansion planning and execute on assigned deliverables.

Within 12 months, you’ll:

• Contribute ideas in process improvement including KPI’s of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
• Visit at least 2 of our network RDCs to collaborate on strategy and understand other regional market needs.
• Collaborate with RDC support team to push network wide improvement initiatives.
• Lead the selection and training of the leadership team for assigned RDC building.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $130,800 - $179,850 AIP: 20% . Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
