Job summary

US Foods is seeking a Senior Refrigeration Systems Engineer to design, optimize, and manage lifecycle of facility and operational refrigeration systems across multiple sites. You will lead cross-functional teams to drive reliability and efficiency while aligning with safety and regulatory requirements.

The role requires strong expertise in ammonia/Freon systems, CMMS planning, and multi-site project execution, with substantial travel and collaboration with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance,

Qualifications

• 5+ years in industrial refrigeration or cold chain engineering.
• Experience with ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems.
• Ability to manage multi-site operations and technical teams.
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, PSM, IIAR, energy efficiency and automation.
• Willingness to travel >40% in initial years.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation, optimization, and lifecycle management of facility and operational systems to ensure reliability and business continuity.
• Provide advanced technical expertise for infrastructure, automation, controls, mechanical, electrical, and integrated systems.
• Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, IT, EHS, and external vendors on system improvements and strategic initiatives.
• Monitor system performance, analyze trends, and develop solutions to improve uptime, reliability, capacity, and efficiency.
• Lead root cause analysis for system failures and implement corrective/preventive actions.
• Develop and maintain engineering standards, documentation, procedures, and specifications for consistency and compliance.
• Support capital projects, equipment installations, facility upgrades, and expansions from concept through startup.
• Evaluate existing systems and propose modernization strategies and emerging technologies.
