The company is seeking an experienced sales professional who understands CNC manufacturing and can build strong customer relationships while aggressively developing new business throughout the Southeast.

Job Summary

The Regional Sales Manager will be responsible for growing revenue throughout the Southeast territory, with a primary focus on Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi. This is a highly visible, field-based sales position combining account management, technical sales, business development, and territory ownership. The successful candidate will manage established dealer, OEM, and distributor relationships while actively developing new end-user accounts and identifying opportunities for equipment upgrades, retrofits, and process-improvement solutions. The ideal candidate has genuine experience in CNC machining and manufacturing processes and can comfortably discuss production challenges with machinists, engineers, manufacturing managers, plant leadership, and purchasing teams.

This is a true hunter/farmer role for someone who enjoys being in front of customers and building a territory.

Responsibilities
  • Own and grow sales throughout the assigned South Central territory.
  • Manage and expand existing relationships with machine tool dealers, OEMs, distributors, and end users.
  • Develop new business through prospecting, referrals, networking, LinkedIn, phone outreach, email, customer visits, and other effective sales strategies.
  • Identify new end-user opportunities and develop relationships directly with manufacturers.
  • Identify CNC machine retrofit, inspection, measurement, tooling, and process-improvement opportunities.
  • Understand customer manufacturing processes and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
  • Present technical products and solutions to engineers, manufacturing leaders, plant managers, and other decision-makers.
  • Conduct customer visits, demonstrations, presentations, trade shows, and regional industry events.
  • Work with customers to identify productivity, quality, inspection, and automation challenges.
  • Help customers understand the technical and financial value of proposed solutions.
  • Develop opportunities from initial contact through closing and implementation.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline, forecasting, and customer information within CRM.
  • Monitor competitive activity and identify opportunities to win business from competing technologies.
  • Collaborate with internal technical and application resources to support customer requirements.
Requirements
  • Meaningful experience in CNC machining, CNC manufacturing, machining processes, machine tools, or manufacturing applications.
  • Previous customer-facing experience in technical sales, applications engineering, or a closely related role.
  • Ability to understand manufacturing processes and discuss technical solutions with customers.
  • Experience selling into manufacturing environments, preferably involving CNC machine tools or related technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new business in addition to managing existing accounts.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Comfortable interacting with machinists, engineers, manufacturing managers, executives, and purchasing personnel.
  • Self-motivated and capable of independently managing a geographic territory.
  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 70% throughout the territory, including local day trips and overnight travel. 30-40% hotel stays.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work effectively from a home office while spending significant time in the field.

Relevant backgrounds may include: machine tool sales, tooling sales, CNC-related technical sales, CAD/CAM software sales, applications engineering, manufacturing technology sales, or similar customer-facing roles.

Preferred Requirements
  • Experience selling CNC-related products, machine tools, manufacturing technology, metrology, inspection, automation, tooling, or software.
  • Existing relationships with machine tool dealers, distributors, OEMs, or CNC manufacturers.
  • Experience identifying and developing retrofit opportunities.
  • Experience selling technical solutions with measurable productivity, quality, or ROI benefits.
  • Established network within the Southeast manufacturing market.
  • Experience working with aerospace, automotive, industrial, precision machining, or other advanced manufacturing customers.
  • Experience managing a multi-state sales territory.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, business, or a related field is a plus, but relevant industry experience is more important than a specific degree.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary: Approximately $95,000-$110,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Commission: Performance-based commission structure tied to hardware sales.
  • Expected OTE: Approximately $130,000-$140,000, with additional upside based on territory development and sales performance.
  • Individual sales opportunities commonly range from approximately $15,000 to $80,000+, with larger opportunities possible.
  • Company-paid or reimbursed business travel expenses.
  • Mileage reimbursement.
