Job summary

Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. seeks a Regional Sales Manager to drive sales across the TN, SC, NC, VA, MD, and DE territory. The role is remote with extensive travel and requires building relationships with retailers, distributors, and mid-to-large businesses.

The ideal candidate brings direct selling experience, firearms industry knowledge, and strong communication and presentation skills to lead planning, promotions, and inventory management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Marketing preferred.
  • Experience selling to mid-to-large size businesses.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Must be able to travel extensively across territory.

Responsibilities

  • Travel extensively across the territory with significant nights away from home.
  • Plan promotions with retailers and distributors to drive Ruger products to end users.
  • Coordinate scheduling, advertising, inventory, and weekend events at independent retail stores.
  • Maintain inventory levels by working with independent distributors in the region.
  • Demonstrate Ruger products and programs using samples, catalogs or media.
  • Train distributor and retail staff on Ruger product features.
  • Attend trade shows and company events, including evenings and weekends.
  • Prepare sales and expense reports and other required documents.
  • Collaborate with planning teams on weekly production and forecasting.
  • Resolve customer order and billing issues.
  • Travel to Ruger locations as needed for business.
  • Attend additional shows and company events as required.

Regional Sales Manager

Location

This is a remote role with significant travel required across the assigned territory of Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware. The preferred candidate will reside centrally to the territory in North Carolina or Southern Virginia.

Position Summary

This is a fulltime position reporting to the Director of Regional Sales, the Regional Sales Manager is responsible for managing the overall sales matrix of the assigned regional territory (TN, SC, NC, VA, MD, and DE). The ideal candidate has a positive attitude and a strong ability to work with others to further the Company’s core values of Integrity, Respect, Innovation and Teamwork.

Responsibilities and Initiatives
  • Extensive travel, minimum one hundred nights per year, throughout assigned territory calling on current and prospective customers to manage inventory levels and solicit orders.
  • Promotional planning with retailers and distributors to sell Ruger goods through to end users.
  • This will include, but not limited to scheduling, advertising, planning, securing inventory, and working the counter at weekend events in independent retail stores.
  • Manage inventory levels by working closely with our independent distributors within assigned territory.
  • Display and demonstrate products and programs using samples, catalogs, and/or electronic media.
  • Train distributor and retail sales staff about the unique features of Ruger products.
  • Regular attendance at trade shows and other company sponsored events including evenings and weekends.
  • Preparation of a variety of sales related reports and company expense reports.
  • Work with planning teams on weekly production schedule / forecasting to prioritize Sales need.
  • Research and help resolve customer order / billing issues
  • Manage pricing, including annual repricing process
  • Travel to various Ruger locations as agreed and required
  • Attend trade shows and other company sponsored events as agreed and required
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge in communications, collaboration and data technology with specific experience selling Ruger’s product line highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of selling professional services and managed services is preferred.
  • Experience with direct selling experience is required.
  • Ability to call on and work directly with buyers and executives in mid to large size businesses.
  • Strong presentation, verbal and communication skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated sales ability and technical aptitude is required.
  • Knowledge and track record of territory development including new business accounts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook is required.
  • Previous experience working in the firearms industry is required.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's Degree, with a concentration in Business or Marketing is preferred.

Additional Requirements

Must be able to successfully pass a drug and background screening. Must be eligible and willing to handle firearms.
