We are seeking a commercially driven Regional Sales Manager to develop and grow the Southeast US territory.
This position will focus on increasing the adoption of genetic and genomic testing solutions across hospitals, health systems, academic medical centres and specialist physician practices.
A major focus of the role will be supporting clinicians involved in rare disease, pediatric genetics and inherited disorders, making previous experience within genetic testing, clinical genomics or rare disease diagnostics particularly valuable.
The successful candidate will combine strong new-business-development capabilities with the clinical credibility required to engage geneticists, genetic counsellors, pediatric specialists and other highly specialised healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive revenue growth and market penetration across the Southeast US.
- Promote portfolio of advanced genetic and genomic testing solutions, including Whole Exome Sequencing (WES), Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS), genetic panels and other advanced sequencing solutions.
- Develop new business across hospitals, children's hospitals, health systems, academic medical centres and specialist physician practices.
- Establish and develop relationships with key clinical stakeholders including:
- Medical geneticists
- Genetic counsellors
- Pediatric specialists
- Rare disease specialists
- Other physicians managing patients with suspected inherited or genetic disorders
- Identify clinical pathways and patient populations where advanced genomic testing can support diagnosis and patient management.
- Educate healthcare professionals on the clinical value, application and appropriate utilisation of genomic testing.
- Develop and execute a strategic territory business plan focused on both new account acquisition and expansion within existing accounts.
- Manage the full commercial sales cycle from prospecting and initial clinical discussions through onboarding, account development and long-term relationship management.
- Build relationships with key opinion leaders and influential clinicians across genetics, pediatrics and rare disease.
- Work cross-functionally with clinical genomics, genetic counselling, laboratory, operations, billing and marketing teams to deliver a strong customer experience.
- Maintain an accurate sales pipeline, territory forecast and account development strategy.
- Represent at regional and national genetics, pediatric and rare disease conferences.
- Monitor market developments, competitor activity and customer feedback to identify new commercial opportunities.
Candidate Profile
Looking for an experienced diagnostics or laboratory sales professional with a strong understanding of genetic testing and the clinical pathways surrounding rare and inherited diseases.
Candidates should ideally bring experience across several of the following areas:
- Clinical genetic testing
- Rare and ultra-rare disease
- Clinical genomics
- Whole Exome Sequencing (WES)
- Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS)
- NGS-based genetic panels
- Neurology / pediatric neurology
- Inherited disease testing
Experience & Requirements
- 5+ years of successful sales experience within genetic testing, molecular diagnostics, clinical laboratory services or a closely related diagnostics market.
- Demonstrable track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and developing new business.
- Previous experience selling genetic or genomic testing is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of rare disease and/or pediatric diagnostic pathways would be highly advantageous.
Experience calling on geneticists, genetic counsellors, pediatric neurologists, neurologists or other specialist physicians.
- Strong relationships across hospitals, health systems, children's hospitals and/or academic medical centres within the Southeast would be advantageous.
- Ability to understand and clearly communicate complex scientific and clinical information.
- Strong new-business-development mentality with experience opening previously untapped accounts and territories.
- Comfortable working autonomously across a large geographic territory.
- Excellent relationship-building, presentation, negotiation and account-management skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with clinical, scientific and operational teams.
- Willingness to travel regularly throughout the Southeast territory.
The Ideal Background
The strongest candidates will already have experience selling genetic testing into rare disease and pediatric clinical pathways.
This could include individuals currently working within genetic testing laboratories, clinical genomics companies, molecular diagnostic organisations or specialist laboratories supporting inherited disease.
Direct relationships with genetic counsellors, medical geneticists, pediatric neurologists and major children's hospitals would be particularly relevant.
