Job Summary
The role involves various functions within the sales department aimed at growing the business and supporting customers, the sales force, and internal stakeholders. The position requires leadership skills to help Meridian Bioscience meet and exceed sales and profit goals.
Key Duties
- Achieve or exceed 100% of the regional adjusted sales plan.
- Implement the Sales and Marketing Plan at the regional level and provide feedback to the home office on field activities.
- Support sales representatives in reaching their individual territory sales targets.
- Build customer relationships within the region, including hospitals, reference labs, distributors, Key Opinion Leaders, and other stakeholders.
- Lead new product launches to ensure full participation and regional success.
- Maintain or improve product pricing to impact profitability.
- Uphold fiduciary responsibility for sales and ensure adherence to company policies.
Leadership of the Regional Sales Team
- Develop personnel through effective management, coaching, and training.
- Conduct joint sales calls and provide feedback for improvement.
- Maintain open communication with team members and leadership.
- Foster teamwork and lead by example.
- Conduct performance appraisals and take corrective actions when needed.
- Recruit, interview, and hire sales personnel.
Administrative Tasks
- Complete administrative responsibilities accurately and timely.
- Assist in developing and monitoring the sales department budget.
- Maintain records on sales personnel and approve special pricing agreements.
- Lead regional sales meetings and ensure CRM compliance.
- Manage sales opportunities and forecasts.
- Ensure policy adherence across the region.
Professional Development
- Develop an annual personal development plan.
- Seek and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain strong product and market knowledge.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Travel up to 75% by air/car as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in business or science-related field.
- 10-15 years of regional sales management experience, especially in complex sales situations.
- Preferred experience in diagnostic markets, marketing, training, or corporate accounts.
- Reside in the assigned territory.
- Strong leadership, motivation, and supervisory skills.
- Knowledge of GPOs, IDNs, and Distribution Management.
- Ability to understand and follow SOPs and guidelines.
- Empathy for customer needs and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with scientific principles, especially microbiology.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in teams, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
