Job summary

The Safety Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs across multiple steel service center locations within their region. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, promotes a strong safety culture, and works closely with operations to reduce workplace incidents involving heavy machinery, cranes, forklifts, and steel processing equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field preferred.
• 3–5+ years of safety experience in manufacturing, steel, or heavy industrial environments.
• Multi-site experience is a strong plus.
• Steel industry knowledge is a plus.
• OSHA 30-hour certification (GSP, ASP a plus).

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs across multiple steel service center locations within the region.
• Lead hazard identification, risk assessments, andJSAs.
• Train team members on JSA’s, LOTO, crane operation, PPE, and Hazard communication.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable regulations; maintain records and audits.
• Coordinate regulatory inspections and audits; support incident investigations and corrective actions.
