Job Summary
Miller Electric has an immediate need for a Regional Safety Manager in Richmond, VA. The ideal candidate would have previous experience working with an electrical contractor on a data center construction project. The Regional Safety Manager reports to the Senior Safety Manager and focuses on maintaining the safest possible workplace and OSHA compliance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with teams to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, standards, policies, and/or procedures.
- Provide technical expertise to managers and supervisors in establishing techniques and procedures for the elimination or control of unsafe behaviors, environments, and hazards.
- Plan and conduct periodic and unscheduled surveys and inspections of Miller Electric projects.
- Conduct hazard analyses of project operations.
- Assist in updating and maintaining the company safety manual.
- Develop and conduct risk assessments and Job Task Analyses for relevant tasks.
- Coordinate with operating activities to provide safety training and ensure safety awareness throughout Miller Electric.
- Work with personnel to assure safe placement and job assignment.
- Assist in maintaining accident record keeping.
- Provide technical assistance with the investigation of accidents, incidents, injuries, and/or illnesses.
- Foster a team environment when advising on needed corrections.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in occupational health & safety, or a BCSP credential (CHST or STS-C).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience overseeing electrical contractor scope of work, including healthcare or data center electrical construction projects.
- OSHA 30‑hour certification within the past 3 years.
- Understanding of Workers’ Compensation.
- Strong technical writing ability.
- A strong supporter of collaboration in an effort to gather the best solutions.
- Ability to address and train groups of 25‑30.
- Ability to adapt to a changing work environment.
- Ability to act independently with minimal daily direction.
- Ability to work closely with all levels of Miller Electric.
- High energy and self‑motivated.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full‑time basis without employer sponsorship. Employment‑based visa sponsorship (including H‑1B sponsorship) is not available.
- PREFERRED
- Certified OSHA Outreach Trainer for the Construction Industry.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365.
