Job summary

Berlin Steel, Inc. is seeking a passionate Safety Manager to enhance safety protocols across construction sites. Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction safety, preferably with structural/miscellaneous steel.
  • Proven ability to identify hazards and recommend corrective measures.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; travel to jobsites in multiple states is required.

The Berlin Steel Construction Company is a full-service specialty contractor, primarily with structural steel and miscellaneous metals. We design, fabricate, and erect structures in the Northeast and in other parts of the country. We have 2 fabrication facilities, 4 erection operations facilities, and 6 office locations that provide engineering and management of projects. We are a 100% employee-owned company (ESOP) with a desire for growth. We service the private commercial, public, institutional, and industrial markets.

We are currently looking for a Safety Manager who is passionate about creating safe, compliant, and proactive job sites. The ideal candidate has a strong background in construction safety (preferably steel erection), thrives in fast-paced environments, and is confident leading field teams and management through safety planning, audits, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities
  • Train and support field personnel, foremen, and superintendents in safety practices for structural steel and miscellaneous steel erection projects.
  • Travel regularly to active jobsites, fabrication facilities, and regional offices and conduct regular jobsite inspections and audits.
  • Assist / review and comment on the site specific safety plans and company-wide programs.
  • Review subcontractor safety programs and ensure alignment with Berlin Steel and customer requirements, notify and prepare written report of any violations or unsafe practices to subcontractors for immediate correction actions.
  • Conduct incident investigations, create corrective action plans, and maintain records.
  • Guide project managers and supervisors on integrating safety into operational planning.
  • Manage accident reports, insurance claims, and support claims review processes.
  • Communicate safety updates verbally and visually to enhance field awareness.
  • Maintain and submit weekly activity reports to Corporate Safety leadership.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction safety, preferably structural/miscellaneous steel.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, construction codes, and field safety practices.
  • Proven ability to identify hazards and recommend corrective measures.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with strong leadership presence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; travel to jobsites in multiple states is required.

  • OSHA 500 & 510
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
